The AVP Experience

You should not dread your family photo-session!

Our style of photography is light, fun, and upbeat. We want you to truly enjoy your session; and we believe the key to a stress-free photoshoot is communication.

We guide you through the entire process so you'll always know what to expect:
-Before you book your session, we will chat about session goals and expectations.
-After your session is booked, you will be given access to a Session Guide that provides tips to help you prepare for your session.
-After your session, we will help you design artwork from your images for you to enjoy everyday.

Throughout each phase, we welcome questions and open communication. We want you to enjoy the entire photography process, and that starts from the moment you inquire with us. By the time your session date arrives you'll be fully prepared.
All you have to do is show up and enjoy time with your loved ones.
We will do all the rest.

So, let's plan a day, pick a location around the DMV area that is meaningful to you, and create images that will fill up the frames on your walls for years to come.

The AVP Experience

Within two weeks after your session, you'll be notified that your images are ready for you to view! We'll schedule a reveal and ordering appointment - this is when you'll view your images for the first time and order your artwork. We'll discuss which images you'd like to use for your specific products, and work together to design your artwork. A few weeks later, we will deliver your custom artwork!

Do you photograph weddings and events?

Unless you've modeled professionally, you're probably going to feel awkward in front of the camera. .
You may feel uncomfortable at first, but as the session goes on and we coach you through images, we think you'll find that being photographed can actually be fun. And don't worry about your kids. We're well versed in capturing even the busiest of little ones.

we're awkward in photos and my kids never sit still.

Have no clue about what to wear for your session? Don't worry! It's much easier than you think. The main goal is that you are comfortable and feel good about your outfit choices. We share tips for what looks best on camera, and can offer outfit suggestions for each member of the family if you get stumped.

what should we wear?

No one wants to worry about unpleasant weather during their photo session. If it looks like there's going to be inclement weather, we'll be in touch to reschedule. Often, when we're scheduling our initial portrait session date, we'll set up both a main date and a rain date. This help ensures that we don't have to postpone your session for very long if the weather is bad on the original date.

what about inclement weather?

The sooner the better! We recommend booking your session up to 3 months ahead of time to ensure that you are able to reserve your desired date. To get you scheduled, we will need a paid retainer fee and a signed agreement.  Also, depending on the session type, you'll want to reserve your session date within a certain timeframe. For example, I think some of the best maternity photos are taken between the seven and eight month mark. Lifestyle Newborn photos can be taken up to the first two months of your child's birth and engagement session photos should be taken with enough time to get your photos back so that save-the-dates and/or invitations are sent out. Session retainer fees are non-refundable, but if you need to change your date, just let us know!n a timely matter. Other than that, when you book is up to you!
