Family sessions with me are centered on connection — because the most meaningful photos come from the in-between moments: the laughter, the snuggles, the way your child’s hand fits in yours. As a DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia family photographer, I specialize in relaxed, lifestyle portraits that celebrate the realness of your relationships — not just what you look like, but who you are together.
Whether you’re welcoming a new baby, chasing toddlers in the backyard, or gathering for an in-home session with grandparents, my goal is to make the process feel effortless. I don’t believe in stiff poses — just a joyful experience where your family can slow down and be fully present with each other.
Newborn sessions take place in your home, where baby and family feel most comfortable. These sessions are flexible, unhurried, and deeply connected — focused on documenting your growing family just as you are. Big siblings and grandparents are always welcome.
Family and newborn sessions typically last about 1.5 hours. I only photograph one session per day so you never feel rushed, and there’s plenty of space to relax, pause, or play.
Let’s keep things simple and heartfelt. You’ll walk away with images that feel like your family — not just pretty pictures, but honest, emotional portraits you’ll treasure for generations.
From Day One, You’re Supported.
From the moment you book until your finished artwork is in your hands, my goal is to make you feel completely confident and excited about the process. Once your session is reserved, you’ll receive a helpful Session Guide filled with wardrobe tips, session-day details, and answers to common questions.
Two weeks before your session, we’ll meet on Zoom to go over everything, meet “face to face,” and make sure you feel totally prepared. If anything new comes up along the way, I’m always just an email away.
Session Day: Genuine Connection & Easy Vibes.
Whether we’re capturing your growing family or welcoming your newest addition, the goal is the same: honest moments that feel like you. I’ll gently guide you into natural interactions without forced poses. We’ll take our time — pausing when needed for snacks, snuggles, or a moment to breathe — and I’ll document the laughter, love, and in-between magic that unfolds.
These sessions are about connection, not perfection.
After the Session: Art That Lasts a Lifetime.
About two weeks after your session, we’ll meet for your personal reveal appointment (in-person or via Zoom) so you can see your portraits for the very first time. This part of the process is not about high-pressure sales — it’s about giving you the time, space, and guidance to choose the images you love most. I’ll help you explore display options, answer questions, and design pieces that feel just right for your home.
Investment.
Your session begins with a $350 non-refundable session fee, which includes:
Pre-session consultation
1.5 hours in-home or on-location
Professional editing of your final images
Personal reveal & ordering appointment to view and select your portraits
Images and products are purchased separately from an à la carte menu during your reveal. Most families choose a mix of digital images, wall art and albums. There are options for a variety of spaces and budgets. Full details are included in my Portrait Experience & Pricing Guide, sent after your inquiry.
I recommend booking your newborn session as soon as possible, ideally during your second trimester, to ensure availability. While newborn sessions are typically scheduled within the first 2 weeks after birth, I photograph newborns of all ages. Some parents even choose to book their session closer to 2 months, allowing for more awake, interactive moments as their baby becomes more engaged with the world around them. It’s all about your preferences and what you envision for your portraits!
That’s perfectly normal! Babies can have their fussy moments, especially during the first few weeks. The beauty of an in-home session is that we have the flexibility to take breaks and give your baby the time they need to feel calm and comfortable. I’ll guide you through every step and make sure we capture the best moments, even if things don’t go according to plan.
Absolutely! Grandparents are always welcome. These sessions are about telling your family’s story, and if that includes Grandma holding the baby or Grandpa making the kids laugh, I’m all for it.
Newborn and family sessions typically last around 1.5 hours. That gives us plenty of time for snuggles, snack breaks, diaper changes, or a quick reset if needed. I only book one session a day so we never feel rushed and you always have my full attention.
Keep it simple—really! Whether it’s a newborn or family session, there’s no need for props or a picture-perfect house. I’ll guide you through everything during our consultation, but generally, it helps to tidy up a few cozy spots where your family naturally spends time. I’ll work with the light and spaces that feel most authentic to you. Don’t stress—this is about connection, not perfection.
