Why I Love Photographing Children

A Few Things About Me (Besides the Camera)

I create modern, personality-driven child portraits for families who value expression, connection, and artwork that lasts. My work is rooted in capturing childhood as it truly is — honest and true to who they are in their current season.

Every child is different. Some are energetic, some are shy, and some take time to warm up. I meet children where they are and adjust my approach so their personality can naturally come through.

There’s something special about photographing children—their curiosity, their honesty, the way their personalities unfold naturally in front of the camera. I’m drawn to the in-between moments: the giggles, the quiet pauses, and expressions that show exactly who they are right now.

I don’t expect children to perform or sit perfectly still. In fact, the less “perfect,” the better. My goal is to create portraits that feel honest, expressive, and true to this season of childhood.

When I’m not behind the camera, I’m spending time with my family, homeschooling my daughter, and leaning fully into everyday life. I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart for over 22 years, and you’ll often hear from him once we begin working together — Ish is my studio manager and your first point of contact. He helps keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes, all while delivering plenty of dad jokes.

We share our home with three lovable dogs, and I’m never far from a good book, a cup of tea, or a cozy night in. Life in our home is full, warm, and intentionally lived — and that same energy shapes the way I photograph children: relaxed, thoughtful, and connection-focused.
